I'm a Celebrity line-up has been announced. See if you can spot the celebrities.

Celebrity

- Noun, plural – ties

1. A famous person: a show-business celebrity.

2. Fame or notoriety.

These days a lot of people don’t seem to know the definition of a celebrity, so I thought it would be a good idea to remind them. In a world where people seem to get famous for just about anything, it can be hard to find any real celebrities amoungt them. Well if you’re looking for one, I wouldn’t watch I’m a Celebrity this year.

Ok, that’s not exactly true as there are some proper celebs in there. Let’s get a run down of the people who will be cast into the jungle and feeding off kangaroo penis for a few week.

1. Aggro Santos – Who? No, I’ve never heard of him either. Apparently he’s a rapper, but if you can tell me any of his songs you get major bonus points.

2. Alison Hammond – Famous for being on Big Brother and bits of This Morning. So basically a reality TV star is going to be on a reality TV show again. Doesn’t really count. I mean she’s done it once already, so we know what she’s like all cooped up. Boring.

3. Britt Ekland – Famous for being a Bond girl. Ok, if you say so.

4. Dom Joly – Finally, someone who is actually a little bit famous. I wonder if he’ll bring his giant mobile phone into the jungle.

5. Kayla Collins – Former Playboy playmate but no-one in the UK really knows who she is. I would ask how she ended up being on the show, but one look at her and you know exactly why.

6. Gillian McKeith – Famous for looking at people’s poo and not really being a doctor.

7. Lembit Opik – Famous for going out with one of the Cheeky Girls. Oh, and I think he was a politician or something.

8. Linford Christie – Famous for running and stuff. Actually famous *tick*.

9. Nigel Havers – Famous for being an actor and has even won a BAFTA and everything. Actually more famous than I would expect in the jungle.

10. Shaun Ryder – Famous for being drunk, swearing and a singing in the Happy Mondays. While he was famous once, I don’t really think it counts anymore, and I do wonder how much of the jungle dialogue we’ll be able to hear if they are constantly having to bleep him out.

11. Sheryl Gascoigne – Famous for being married to Paul Gascoigne for a whole 2 years and being Bianca Gascoigne’s mother.

12. Stacey Solomon – Famous for not winning the X Factor.

So I’m sure you’ll agree there are not many real celebrities amongst the cast, though I’m sure they are running out of real famous people who would want to take part anyway.

X Factor manages to hit the headlines for their contestant selection already.

Now the X Factor isn’t exactly my favourite programme on TV, but there is no ignoring it. It’s on TV at least two nights a week, with the follow up programme, The Xtra Factor, on just as often. And that’s not even mentioning the repeats. It is literally everywhere. Then they usually release a charity single with a bunch of the finalists, and of course there’s the attempt at a Christmas number one.

After December, we usually get a break for a while, as the winners don’t tend to launch themselves till about a year later, with last year’s winner Joe McElderry just releasing his follow up single to The Climb now. I do imagine that following up a cover of a Miley Cyrus song is a tough job.

The thing that is amazing about this year’s X Factor is the fact that it has hit massive controversy already, and considering the series only started in August, that’s pretty impressive. Put aside Dannii being pregnant, Cheryl having malaria, and one contestant already being dismissed from the show because they were worried about mental health issues, the biggest problem came when the judges picked the final 12 to go through to the live final.

Viewers of the show were left extremely unhappy when bookies favourite to win, Gamu Nhengu, was not put through in favour of a bad Madonna look-a-like and someone who couldn’t actually sing because they had tonsillitis. So of course the judges know nothing about the music business, and teenagers and middle-aged women clearly have a better insight into who should go through.

Cheryl Cole has been getting a lot of flak for her decision, with people saying the malaria has affected her brain…right. These definitely sound like the opinions of informed individuals.

But viewers need to worry, because we have been promised a big twist when the live shows actually start, with many people speculating that favourites, such as Gamu, will be given a second chance.

In my opinion it doesn’t really matters who wins, as they will bring out an awful cover for Christmas number one that will be knocked off the top spot by a Facebook campaign and Rage Against The Machine.

All is not well in ITV’s celebrity TV show ‘Dancing On Ice’ after a judge criticised one of the contestants, sparking claims of bullying.

The popular show, in which celebrities learn to ice skate with the help of former ice skating champions Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean was rocked when Jason Gardiner – a judge on the show – compared Olympian Sharron Davies with ‘faecal matter’.

The comment sparked a deluge of complaints to ITVs website and forums calling for the Australian judge to be sacked from his role.

Gardiner’s comments were directed to the outfit Miss Davies wore – a brown, sparkly leotard – during hers and her instructor’s dance to Carole King’s ‘You’ve got a friend’. The routine earned the pair praise from the panellists – except from Gardiner, who told the former Olympic athlete:

‘You look like faecal matter that won’t flush, that goes around and around but doesn’t go anywhere.’

Campaign group Mediawatch were quick to condemn the judge’s remarks on the show which aired on Sunday reported the Daily Mail.
