Despite recent online reports that suggested he’d suffered a heart attack, action movie star Jean Claude Van Damme has claimed that he is “100% healthy” in a Facebook update.

Reports had surfaced claiming that the 50-year-old suffered a minor heart attack before filming a scene for his new movie Weapon in New York, and that he was taken to a nearby hospital where he received medical attention. The story seemed to gain weight when it was revealed that the film was said to be “held up due to unexplained complications”, however in an official update from his Facebook page, Van Damme defused the rumours.

“Hours ago, I read a rumour online about me suffering heart attack!!!” the entry from the “Muscles from Brussels” read.

It continued: “Please, do not believe all what you read from rumours on any unofficial JCVD sites. Jean-Claude Van Damme is 100% healthy, training well for taking the fight and sending his fans and friends much love – JCVD. (sic)”.

The reports of his supposed heart attack originally surfaced on TwitchFilm.net – and if they’re found to be false it’s probably safe to say they won’t be wanting to run into the former Street Fighter star in any dark alleyways…

Van Damme originally shot to fame as one of the most prominent actors in the 1980s action movie boom, although his career started to wind down throughout the 1990s, to the point where most of his films are now released straight-to-DVD. Controversially, he recently turned down a part in Sylvester Stallone’s action blockbuster The Expendables, after Stallone reportedly told him that he’d “make a lot of money” from the project rather than divulging to Van Damme details of his character.

With the latest day in Jack Bauer’s life currently being played out on TV screens around the world it isn’t yet known whether Day 8 will mark the end of the hugely successful series but a decision on its future is likely to be made in the next few weeks.

However, the man who plays Jack – Kiefer Sutherland – is keen to make the jump from small screen to large with the series and Variety reports that although still in its infancy, the project’s future depends on the decision surrounding the TV show.

This means that even if Fox decide not to run with Season 9, there is still the chance it could appear elsewhere and until all options are exhausted, the film version will continue in the pipeline.

Totalfilm.com report that Lucas has apparently spent several years looking for the best 3D conversion method, but up until now technology has scuppered any plans to remaster the film in 3D. However, with the release of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Lucas believes his vision for Star Wars could now become reality.

“I can appreciate what he [Cameron] went through to do it,” said Lucas. “[I'm] happy it’s so successful, and worked very well in 3D. [I] haven’t been a big fan of 3D, but that movie definitely improves in 3D.”

“We’ve been looking for years and years and years of trying to take Star Wars and put it in 3D. But, (the) technology hasn’t been there. We’ve been struggling with it, but I think this will be a new impetus to make that happen.”

While the thought of Luke, Han, Chewie, Obi-Wan and the rest might sound exciting; equally the thought of Jar-Jar Binks in 3D, however, doesn’t.
