Created with the association of the show’s production team, the cover was created in time for the issue’s release on March 10th, and ahead of the new series being aired on BBCOne.

Popular Twitter feed,’Sh*t My Dad Says‘ is to become a TV sitcom, with William Shatner playing the titular dad.

The feed was launched in August 2009 by 29-year old Justin Halpern who used Twitter to post the bizarre musings of his elderly father. The stream now has more than one million followers and landed Justin a book deal, as well as an offer to write a TV pilot.

Financed by CBS, the pilot script has been put together by Justin with the help of Patrick Schumacker will be executive produced by Will& Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.

Featuring Daleks, Weeping Angels and more the trailer borrows heavily from the new Doctor Who artwork – or maybe it’s the other way round! – but the trailer does offer a little more insight as to how Matthew Smith will play the 11th incarnation of the Time Lord.

Meanwhile, The Sun newspaper report comic actor James Corden is to make an appearance in the show but insiders have refused to let slip whether Corden – star of Gavin & Stacey – will play a friend or foe of the Doctor

STV are reporting that new Doctor Who Matthew Smith will battle a host of old enemies in a dramatic end-of-series finale. In the finale, the Doctor and assistant Amy Pond (Karen Gillian) will face off against Cybermen, Sontarans and Daleks.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “The producers wanted Matt to end his first season as the Time Lord with something explosive and exciting. And this fits the bill. It’s got all the right elements for a great finale and plenty of opportunities for cliffhangers, with fans not knowing who survives.”

River Song – played by Alex Kingston – also makes a reappearance in the new series which will be aired from April 2010 on BBC One.

In the image the duo are seen to be caught in a swirling vortex – not unlike the vortex seen in the old John Pertwee/Tom Baker credits – surrounded by some of the Time Lord’s most feared enemies, including Daleks, Weeping Angels and a Smiler.

The new trailer for the upcoming series featuring Smith as the eleventh Doctor will broadcast on Saturday on BBC One, and will also simulcast the official BBC Doctor Who website.

The new series is scheduled to air in April 2010 on BBC One.

An old favourite enemy of Doctor Who will make their long-awaited return to the TV show in the new series.

Onthebox reports the lizard-like Silurians will feature in the series after the show’s new boss, Steven Moffat bowed to fans’ requests to bring back the reptilian foe.

The Silurians first featured in the 1970s episode ‘Doctor Who and the Silurians’ where the creatures, disturbed by the workings of a nuclear facility, release a deadly virus that threatens to end humanity.

They reappeared in 1984 in the adventure ‘Warriors of the Deep’ alongside another favourite – the Sea Devils.

The Silurians will feature in Series Five of the Doctor Who show, starring new Doctor Matthew Smith.

24: The Movie has moved a step closer to reality after 20th Century Fox drafted in Billy Ray (Flightplan, State of Play) to write the script.

With the latest day in Jack Bauer’s life currently being played out on TV screens around the world it isn’t yet known whether Day 8 will mark the end of the hugely successful series but a decision on its future is likely to be made in the next few weeks.

However, the man who plays Jack – Kiefer Sutherland – is keen to make the jump from small screen to large with the series and Variety reports that although still in its infancy, the project’s future depends on the decision surrounding the TV show.

This means that even if Fox decide not to run with Season 9, there is still the chance it could appear elsewhere and until all options are exhausted, the film version will continue in the pipeline.

If you’re a fan of Doctor Who then here’s a chance to own an authentic piece of Doctor Who memorabilia as Sky TV blog reports that an auction of Doctor Who props and costumes are to go under the hammer later in February.

The sale is to take place at Bonhams in Knightsbridge on Sunday 24th February and among the lots on offer are various Dalek and Cyberman costumes, Rose Tyler’s dressing gown (Billie Piper), Martha Jones’ leather jacket (Freema Agyemang) and Astrid Peth’s maid outfit (Kylie Minogue).

But it’s not just memorabilia from the Tennant years that is on offer as there will be items from Doctor Who shows dating back to the tenure of Jon Pertwee up to the current incarnation. Sea Devil, Mandrel, Mogarians and Nimons will be among the costumes available.

If transport is more your thing, the opportunity to buy Captain Jack Harkness’ Torchwood Range Rover is available as well as the black cab featured in Donna Noble’s debut on the show – ‘The Runaway Bride’. Sadly, the flying bus from ‘Planet of the Dead’ is not for sale.

The popular show, in which celebrities learn to ice skate with the help of former ice skating champions Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean was rocked when Jason Gardiner – a judge on the show – compared Olympian Sharron Davies with ‘faecal matter’.

The comment sparked a deluge of complaints to ITVs website and forums calling for the Australian judge to be sacked from his role.

Gardiner’s comments were directed to the outfit Miss Davies wore – a brown, sparkly leotard – during hers and her instructor’s dance to Carole King’s ‘You’ve got a friend’. The routine earned the pair praise from the panellists – except from Gardiner, who told the former Olympic athlete:

‘You look like faecal matter that won’t flush, that goes around and around but doesn’t go anywhere.’

Campaign group Mediawatch were quick to condemn the judge’s remarks on the show which aired on Sunday reported the Daily Mail.

So, just who is the UKs favourite Simpson character? As Matt Groenig’s creation celebrates its 20th anniversary, a poll by the official Simpsons Comics was held to determine just which one of the Simpson clan is held dearest in the hearts of the UK public.

And now the results have been published.

It might come as a surprise, but the sagely Simpson patriarch, Homer, could only muster second place in the poll; finishing behind his anarchic son, Bart who collected nearly half of all votes in the poll.
