Did you know it's Tuesday. Wednesday is next. Then Thursday. I could go on.

Now there must be quite a lot of competition out there for the worst song ever, but I think Friday by Rebecca Black is doing a pretty good job of making sure it claims the title.

Clips of this song and parodies have been hitting tumblr and Twitter for a couple of weeks now, but up until a couple of days ago I was quite unaware of what was going on. I think decided to check the song out, as surely, it cannot be as bad as people are making it out to be.

I can honestly say that this is one of the worst songs I have ever heard, for a number of reasons.

1.	Kids just probably shouldn’t make music as people inevitably end up hating them until they’re old enough to dress like a school girl and hold the male populations attention. Justin Bieber is a prime example, as I bet if he was in his 20′s there would be far less hate for him than there is just now. The fact that Rebecca is only 13 just makes her quite annoying. What the hell does she know about life to be “writing songs”. Well apparently the only thing she does know is the days of the week and that’s it.

2.	The content of the song is just awful. As mentioned above, what is a 13 year-old going to know about life, love and misery and all those other good things that songs are typically written about? This song is literally her getting up, eating cereal (yup she tells you that), going for the bus, her friends coming to pick her up instead, her deciding whether to sit in the front seat or the back seat and then her listing the days of the week. Why would anyone think that is worthy of a song? That’s just most people’s lives on a daily basis.

3.	The song also doesn’t really fit the tune she is singing too. A lot of the time she has to suddenly sing at six times the speed that she was before just so she can fit all the words into the line.

4.	Her singing is awful. Think Cher’s “Do You Believe” but with braces. There is so much auto-tune I don’t know why they didn’t just have a robot record the vocals.

5.	The video! Oh dear lord the video. It’s just like giving a camera to a child and letting them film utter tripe, which is pretty much what it is.

So if after all that, if you still think you want to check out the song, you can find it out You Tube.

Don't tweet now what you'll regret later.

So I’ve been seeing a lot of hate for Twitter these days. A lot of people think it’s weird the way that celebrities talk to each other on the social networking site, and yet I’m sure it was the allure of dipping into celebrities’ private lives that first drew a lot of people to Twitter.

A couple of weeks ago I read an article about how celebrities offering condolences on Twitter was a little too much and should probably be kept in private. This was brought into the spotlight when Amanda Holden lost her baby and all her celeb friends were quick to tweet her to say how sorry they were. To be honest, these days Twitter is just as personal as a text message or an email, so what’s wrong with sending messages that way? However, the thing that celebs have to remember it that with Twitter, everyone can see what you’re up to (something Russell Brand and Katy Perry know all too well).

Apparently Rihanna and Ciara have forgotten that little piece of additional information though, as they took to Twitter this week and had quite a public row. Apparently Ciara was on some TV show called Fashion Police (I know right? It sounds amazing) and dissed Rihanna by saying “she wasn’t the nicest”. Bad times for Rihanna. But it’s all good, because she took the 15 year old girl approach and jumped straight on to Twitter. While she didn’t mention Ciara directly in her first couple of tweets, Ciara was obviously reading them as she tweeted back.

They basically slagged each other off back and forth for two or three tweets before Rihanna begged for them to make up, claiming she was just “heartbroken” over what Ciara had said. So apparently they made up…or at least it looks like they did.

Maybe next time the girls have a falling out they’ll think twice about where they do it, and maybe keep it hidden from the media. Saying that, Rihanna hasn’t deleted any of the mentioned tweets, so she clearly doesn’t care too much.

If you're asking this, you're clearly listening to the wrong kind of music.

This ridiculous question has been all over the internet this morning after Laura Marling won the British Female Solo Artist award at last night’s Brits, beating off competition from Cheryl Cole, Ellie Goulding and Rumer.

I’ve already seen the headline “Who is Laura Marling” on the Daily Mail’s site and on Heatworld, and to be honest I’m shocked. It’s not as if Miss Marling is even new on the scene, considering her first album came out in 2008.

Both her albums, “Alas, I Cannot Swim” (2008) and “I Speak Because I Can” (2010) were nominated for the Mercury Music Award and went gold in the UK. While her singles haven’t been as popular (her highest charting single in number 97 with “Devil’s Spoke”), “I Speak Because I Can” went to number 4 in the UK charts.

If you don’t know her from her own work you may have heard her singing on the Mystery Jet’s song “Young Love” or she’s the girl singing on Noah and the Whale’s first album.

The comment on a lot of the news sites are along the lines off “oh I don’t know who she is, how did SHE win!?” To be honest, I don’t that’s a very good attitude to be taking. Just because you don’t know who someone is doesn’t mean they aren’t good, and I’m sure Rumer would have been getting the same hassle if she had won.

I recommend listening to Miss Marling as she is amazing, and her single “Ghosts” from her first album is hands down one of my favourite songs of all time.

Jo Whiley is leaving the Live Lounge for good as she heads to Radio 2.

BBC radio is going through a bit of a re-shuffle at the moment, with presenters swapping shows and line-ups changing on their major channels. The biggest shake-up at Radio 1 will see DJ Jo Whiley leaving her usual weekend slot, and moving over to a three-nights-a-week slot on Radio 2.

In April Whiley’s slot will be passed over to Huw Stephens when she moves into her Monday to Wednesday show from 8pm till 9.30pm (alright for some eh?).

This now means that Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie’s Radio 2 show will be no more as we see them moving to the digital station 6 Music.

Maybe Whiley’s move to Radio 2 is a bid to make the station seem a little cooler, as it is traditional thought of as an “older generation” station compared to Radio 1.

If you're not trendy, you're not getting in.

So to me, the NME has always been a tad pretentious. I like the music that I like, and indie alternative music is in their somewhere, but the NME makes it all seem a little stuck up. Unless a band is really big, NME don’t really seem to talk about them in great detail. This is clear in this year nominations for the NME awards, where bands like Kasabian, who I haven’t heard from in ages, are up for Best British Band, probably just because they are popular, as opposed them actually doing anything great in the past year.

The Foals are up for 9 awards this year (to be honest I could tell you one song by them and that’s it), so if you haven’t heard of them, I wouldn’t even bother this year. In fact, a lot of the same bands seem to repeat over and over again, so clearly the NME know what they like and they don’t want to change it.

They also mention Hayley Williams from Paramore for being stylish, hot and having a Twitter, but her band don’t actually receive any award nominations. Nice guys, really nice.

Their worst album list features last year’s huge sellers such as Cheryl Cole and Katy Perry, so clearly they didn’t pick properly awful albums, they just went for really popular ones that they don’t personally like. Because if you’re indie, you can’t like pop music.

The BRIT nominations were unveiled last night by Fearne Cotton ahead of the actual ceremony in February. Cheryl Cole amidst all her miming accusations is up for two awards – Best British Single and Best British Female Artist. A win would mean she could definitely put all her awful woes of 2010 well and truly behind her. The mighty return of Take That complete with Robbie are also up for two nominations.

The nominations are mostly dominated by the boys with Tinie Tempah clocking up four nominations, Plan B and Mumford & Sons. Other nominees include Ellie Goulding for British Breakthrough Artist, Cee Lo Green for International Male Solo Artist, Arcade Fire and Katy Perry.

Whether Tinie wins or not he will be having a big night as he is confirmed to perform at the BRIT awards. Rihanna will also be performing as will Take That and Plan B. The lucky winners will win a trophy which has been designed by Dame Vivienne Westwood. The BRITs have created what they call a blank canvas and will be restyled each year by leading British designers.

If you want to watch the nominations then they will be on the box at 8pm tonight (January 14th) on ITV2.

Whether you love it or hate it Glee is hitting our screens again tonight.

So in case you didn’t know Glee is back on our screens tonight and I could not be more excited. Just in case you don’t know what the show is about I’ll sum it up for you quickly. Glee centres around a bunch of high school misfits who all have stupidly good singing voices and dance moves as they try and run a successful glee club. Of course personal storylines sometimes get in the way and of course, hilarity ensues.

Okay, so I might not be selling it too well but it is amazing, as I’m sure you’ve heard as I’m not the only person with this opinion. Now, I’m pretty sure I missed a few episodes from the last season, so I’m hoping I can keep up with what’s going on in tonight’s episode. Either way it doesn’t really matter, as the songs are clearly the best part of the show.

Considering I’ve already heard the songs from Glee’s fourth soundtrack album I know how good the songs are going to be this season, including a cover of Paramore’s The only Exception which is one of my favourite songs in the world. There is also an entire episodes dedicated to Britney Spears, with some killer dance moves thrown in.

So if you missed the first season, don’t be put off. Like I said, it’s more about the fun of it all, and you won’t be lost for too long. After you’ve watched it once it’s all too tempting to download the albums and end up singing along like a lunatic. Having Glee on your iPod definitely makes traffic jams more fun.

Emo bands seem to be on the way out as people are jumping ship left, right and centre.

Bands split up all the time, and it doesn’t always last forever. Bands like Take That and Boyzone have split up and come back into the music scene more popular than ever. But recently I’ve found a lot of my favourite bands have been splitting up or losing members, and I’m not happy.

This comes just after the news that the Farro brothers (who were two of the original members) from Paramore have left the band because they weren’t happy. While the rest of the band say that they are continuing to move forward as Paramore, things like this don’t always go well. Take That tried to go on without Robbie, but it didn’t feel right so they split up. I fear this happening to my beloved Paramore.

Things went a bit wrong for Panic! at the Disco when two of their members left, and while they are scheduled to release a new album next year, I can’t help but wonder if it will be as good without Ryan Ross. They did release a song for the movie Jennifer’s Body with just the two of them, but it didn’t have the same chaotic feel that we’re used to from this band.

Finally, my favourite band ever, Fall Out Boy. These pesky boys managed to slip into hiatus without me even knowing about it, which was not good. With their last album being not so good, and the release of their greatest hits last Christmas, they have basically decided that Fall Out Boy is no more.

Other bands such as Cute is What We Aim For, Yellowcard and Blink 182 (even though they are now back together) have split up in recent years too.

Clearly people seem to get too “big” for the band, and decide they want to leave to find something better. But to be honest, I can’t see the Farro brothers doing anything better than Paramore. Maybe if I moved away from like 12 year-old girl emo music, my bands would have a longer shelf life.

I would write an excerpt here, but what's the point when silence is clearly much cooler.

Now this year aside I’m not the biggest fan of the X Factor. While I usually like the albums that the acts release in a year’s time, I very rarely like the Christmas single they release in the bid to hit the number 1 spot. I mean I have Alexandra Burke’s album on my iPod, but her version of Hallelujah was a bit of a musical abortion. So last year I was all for Rage Against the Machine going to number 1, mainly because I liked the song much better than that awful cover of The Climb.

After the success of last year’s triumph over the X Factor it was stupid of us to think that no one would try it again. But I didn’t expect the anti-X Factor group called Cage Against the Machine. Sigh. The group take their name from the composer of the song they have decided to cover for this year’s Christmas number 1 contender, called 4’33. This experimental piece features 4 minutes and 33 seconds of silence.

Now I ask you, what is the point in that? They aren’t even trying to come up with something better than the X Factor; they are just giving us silence. At least the lyrics in Rage Against the Machine had some relevance to the whole situation, but what does silence say?

They are comparing it to the Royal British Legion’s 2 Minute Silence, which was released in November to force radio station to observe the 2 minute silence for Remembrance Day. Now I can see the point in that, though I still don’t think I would buy a record I literally would never get to listen to. I’d rather just donate the money. Good publicity stunt though.

The thing that is most annoying me is the amount of artists who are said to be involved in the song. Fyfe Dangerfield, Scroobius Pip, Dan Le Sac, The Kooks and Heaven 17 all took part, with Billy Brag participation over speakerphone and Imogen Heap recording her part earlier in the day! What does that even mean? Pete Doherty was getting some stick for not turning up, but how the hell would anyone listening to it know that?

The whole thing just seem ridiculous to me. A lot of people have been backing it because all the money is going to charity, but I honestly think they’ve only done that because if they didn’t no one in their right mind would actually buy it.

I fear for the state of the British music industry if you can’t even think of something better than the X Factor and you just have to use silence. Epic fail.
