AMC’s The Prisoner trailer

AMC have released a nine minute long clip from their forthcoming The Prisoner series. This Get Your Blogs Out blogger is a huge fan of the Patrick McGoohan original (with the exception of the last episode, perhaps) so we’re hoping for the best with the AMC remake.

It looks like we’re keeping “Be seeing you”, Rover and local taxis but this clip suggests a shift away from surreal to dark. Despite the most excellent and holy Ian McKellen there’s a lot to worry about here. The Universe will weep if AMC mess up The Prisoner.

    Looks terrible.
  • The Simpsons' episode 'The Computer Wore Menace Shoes' which paid homage to The Prisoner is perhaps the best ever remake.

    They should have left it alone after that.
  • I have to say that The Village used in the new series does not look anywhere near as iconic and otherworldy as Portmeirion. Brilliant original series, which unfortunately got cut short. As to a new series there is a huge scope for stories of paranoia and possible inferences towards Guantanamo, etc, but there is also so much they can mess up by doing a remake. I guess we will just have to wait and see what they decide to do with it.

  • It's a subtle thing too but I miss the number badges. They really spoke the "you're a number" scariness of the Village loudly.
