Frostie the cockatoo shakes it on national TV
It takes a special kind of charisma for a home video to jump from the depths ofYouTube onto a national television show like ABC’s Good Morning America. ‘Frostie the Funniest Dancing Pet Cockatoo’ was one feather-breasted entertainment who happened to have what it takes!
Grooving away to the Ray Charles number ‘Shake Your Tailfeather’, Frostie has already picked up more than 100,000 views of his YouTube video having only launched it at the start of this month. With moves that would put Patrick Swayze in awe, Frostie has quickly gone from caged pet to internet sensation in just a matter of days.
Frostie is a 20-year-old bare-eyed cockatoo that is normally native to Australia. Otherwise known as Little Corella, the internet icon has recently begun complimenting himself for the first time in 20 years with phrases like “bird bird” and “pretty bird”, perhaps preparing himself for a lifetime of stardom.
According to his owner who posted the video under the name ‘onepickiechicke’, Frostie has had no previous dancing lessons and only jives when a song is upbeat enough for his mood.
It may seem like fun now, but Frostie has got competition. Arch-rival and viral video veteran ‘Snowball the dancing cockatoo’ knows what the industry is like having made a name for himself dancing to the music of Backstreet Boys.
With more than two million hits to his original video, Snowball quickly became an internet legend. While the dancing cockatoo was able to dance to a variety of different tunes, he only had a limited number of dance moves and his career began to spiral. Sadly his Christmas release ‘Snowy Christmas DVD‘ has only had 47,000 hits.
Judging by the growth rate of Frostie’s first music video and his ability to make it onto national television within just a few days, it’s likely the dancing cockatoo has a long way to go. In order to make a career for himself, however, he will need to learn a few moves from Snowball if he wants to dance his way to the top.
